Liechtenstein is one of the smallest nations in the world, at just 160 km2. Situated between Austria and Switzerland, Liechtenstein stretches for 25 kilometers along the right bank of the Upper Rhine river. While Alpine mountains form the eastern border, southerly winds and the low elevation of the main valley keep the climate mild. Liechtenstein offers a wide range of gorgeous scenery in its tiny area, with skiing, vineyards and riverside plains as well as lovely towns.
Liechtenstein does more than just sell postage stamps. Liechtenstein's prosperity is based on technical industry and financial services. With a population of 33,700, Liechtenstein supports several institutions of higher learning, internationally renowned museums, exciting theater and music, and seasonal and national festivals.
